Measuring and Installing your Aluminum Fence

1) Understand your install type

To ensure you purchase the correct materials, you need to determine the following:

A) Whether you require posts for installation, or

B) You will be fitting between existing posts / pillars or walls

A) Fence Requires New Posts

B) Existing Posts/Walls/Pillars

2) Measure your fence section/ sections

  • Ensure you use an accurate tape measure and measure in inches
  • If there are multiple sides to your fence please measure each individual side separately

If posts are required for installation, determine how you intend to install Quickscreen posts, there are 3 options:

Base Plated

Into Ground / Core Drilled

Concrete Core Drilled

3) Enter your measurements into the fence calculator that best suits your installation method

Retain the information supplied by the calculator for your order.

4) Other considerations before ordering

If your fence is shorter than 6’ high you may have a situation where you may not require one slat per opening. Use the below slat height table to do the numbers to see if you can reduce slat pack Qty.

Example

Fence run I require is 48 “high x  380 “long.

Fence calculator will advise you need to order 4 x slat packs. one slat pack has 24 slats in it.

Total number of slats = 96 slats.

As per slat spacing table you require 16 slats to make a 48’ High fence panel making a total qty of slat required for your fence of 65 slat. Because of the above you only need to order 3 x slat packs instead of 4 as 3 x slat packs have a total qty of slat of 72.

Gate – whenever you require a gate. You will automatically require a post on each side of the gate so that the gate has a hinging and latching point.  If it is in a fence run, using the post system will require a one-way post on each side of the gate (calculator will automatically make the post selection when you choose a gate).

Calculating Post Height

Height of each post is measured from ground level when posts are in ground. If a base plate is being used, measurement is taken from the top of the base plate.

Max Post height – 72″, with 24 slats.
